Abstract

The importance of having a national ID cannot be ignored hence the need for an easy and quickest way to register and renew the ID upon expiration. A person’s proof of identity is a kind of reference which can be used to uniquely identify one individual from the other. Thus the system will help improve identity fraud and theft, for example ghost workers’ syndrome, impersonation etc. The system will request personal details of the applicant and the card holder (in case of renew) online, the details will then be submitted to National Registration Bureau (NRB) system for further processing of a new ID card. After completing the necessary process, the applicant will be notified through text message on the phone or email to go and collect the card to the nearest Malawi National Registration Bureau when it is ready. This system will reduce congestion in National Registration Bureau offices, minimize and cut costs for people travelling to National Registration Bureau offices. Government will cut costs for deploying people to various places for registration. This will boost up the economy of the country.
