Abstract

Two new donor-bridge-acceptor Carbazole with ethyl 2-oxopropanoate, 2-oxopropanoic acid functional group moiety, coded P1 and P2, were synthesized and used as sensitizers in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The polarizability (α) and ï¬rst order static hyperpolarizability (β) of P1 and P2 is calculated and the results are discussed. The observed FT-IR and FT-Raman data have been compared with computed frequencies and molecular electrostatic potential map approach have calculated by DFT method. Both dyes showed excellent photovoltaic properties with power conversion efficiency values of 6.72 and 6.40% for P1 and P2 respectively.
