Abstract

Artificial Intelligence refers to the science and engineering of designing of intelligent machines, a system that perceives its environment and takes actions so as to maximize the chances of success. With the ability to learn, AI systems in medical field can lead to discovery of new phenomena and the creation of medical knowledge. AI has already been successfully employed in medical fields such as diagnostic systems, drug development, image analysis etc. In this paper, the potential of artificial intelligence techniques for the diagnosis of Hepatitis B has been analyzed. There is an unfortunate lack of knowledge about the symptoms, causes and remedial therapies of Hepatitis B among the people other than specialists. Our aim is to identify various genetic markers of HBV, along with some clinical information that can be used to determine whether an individual is at risk of developing Hepatitis B infection and respond to therapy. An expert system using fuzzy based IF-THEN Rule is designed and its output is studied for various possibilities of the test report. Such a fuzzy based system can be used efficiently to predict the possibility of a person being Hepatitis B infected without the need of any specialist. The paper is presented hereby for consideration.
