Reproduction and Production Performance of local and Crossbred (Tharparkar and Holstein Friesian cross) in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan

Abstract

The study was conducted in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan to collect information on productive performance of Tharparkar and HF cross under field condition. A data on age at first service, age at first calving, calving interval, lactation length and number of services per conception, daily milk production were collected from 150 randomly selected households. A well designed questionnaire was used for data collection. The information on production and reproduction traits including draught ability of bullocks was collected from the farmers.


Average age at first service, average age at first calving and average calving interval were recorded to be 44+0.18 months, 53.98+0.19 months and 25.88+0.13 monthsrespectively in local cattle while in case of crossbred the Average age at first service, average age at first calving and average calving interval were recorded to be 26.98+0.20 months, 36.98+0.20 months, 16.04+0.13 months respectively. On an average 1.85+0.09 and 2.06+0.07 services per conception were required in local and crossbred cows to conceive. Average daily milk production was recorded to be 1.65+0.06 and 4.23+0.11 liter per day whereas average lactation length was recorded as 8.90+0.08 and 10+0.06 months, respectively in local and crossbred
