Abstract

Present paper analyzes improvements in the intensity of the crops in Punjab between 2005 and 2015. Even within the study area, the cropping intensity varies greatly. The growth of the socio-economic climate has completely exploited the physical environment to increase cropping intensity and made farmers sufficiently productive to reuse the net sown area. This is responsible for bringing about a significant change in crop intensity during the period from 2005-06 to 2015-16. Significant increases in crop intensity have been found in Punjab. But still, in most parts of Punjab state, there are sufficient scopes for reusing the net sown area. Therefore, further efforts are required to improve the man-made ecosystem, especially to increase the intensity of irrigation, to make agriculture further mechanized.
