Abstract

Moulds invading a large number of substractes of plants and animal origin are major cuse for the spoilage of agricultural crops and commodities. Association of moulds with food and feeds is a constantly occurring natural phenomenon world over species of Aspergillus,  Penicilliu, Fusarium, Alternaria etc. affect our foods and feeds both during storage and field.


In congenial environment moulds grow on variety of substrates during their growth they not only deprive the substances of their valuable nutrients, but also contaminate them with toxins produced as a result of their metabolic activity. These secondary metabolites of fungal are known as Mycotoxins which cuases pathological & physiological abnormalities in man and warm blooded animals.
