A CRITICAL EVALUATION OF THE ROLE OF MICRO SILICA AND NANO SILICA IN CEMENTITIOUS MATERIALS

Abstract
This is a review article which critically evaluates the role of micro silica and nano silica to be used as cementitious materials in infrastructure development. Due to ever growing population and technological advancements, there is a need of the use of such materials which reduce harmful effects on the environment and are useful in achieving strength and durability of infrastructural components. The technical advantages and the sustainability action have been discussed elaborately in the article. The effects of addition of supplementary cementitious materials in concrete and the various literatures associated with it have been studied under various properties such as hydration process, fresh properties, durability, mechanical strength and others.
