HOLY WATER WELL: THE ROOTED BELIEF AND CONCERN ON THE WATER QUALITY AND HEALTH PROBLEM

Abstract

Water quality is an important consideration in public health. In water science, the problem of water quality is common and the contamination is the big
problem. The contamination might be due to both organic and inorganic substance. The unwanted health event due to exposure to dirty contamination in
water is the big issue. At present, the improvement in standards of water treatment before use is observed around the world. Nevertheless, the water
borne disease still occurs. The lack of the infrastructure in the developing countries is the big problem. Lack of water resource, lack of water reservoir
improvement fund and lack of pipeline system are common. However, the problem is sometimes related to local people behavior. Sometime, the local
people have rooted behaviors attaching t the local belief and this can be a contributing factor to exposure to dangerous contaminated water. Here, the
author discusses on example of a possible risk exposure to contamination in water in uncontrolled use of holy water well. In Indochina, the belief on holy
water well is a common rooted belief and the local people usually visit and use the water from holy water well without quality control of the water.
