E-MAIL SECURITY

Abstract

Now a day’s, e-mail is more valuable than phone for business communication. Email communication is growing as a main method for individuals and organizations to communicate. Many websites allow or require users to use their e-mail addresses either as identity or for other purposes. But E-mail communication still has to cope with certain security problems. Hence e-mail security has become very important. For those securities Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) is the most widely used protocol for e-mail delivery. But, it lacks security features like privacy, authentication and integrity of e-mail message. To make e-mail communication secure and private, e-mail servers adopted one or more security features. The security protocols provide a most security but it also has several limitations. Here we are performing security issues of email and encryption technique of email security .There are many techniques for encryption of e-mail. In this topic also discuss about the PGP encryption technique.There are three types of security attacks: passive attack, active attack and DOS attack. Also discuss about the different threats to email security .Viruses, Phishing, Spam, etc this are the threats to email security. In this topic we focus on email security by the need to protect themselves from the damages email attacks can cause.
