COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ELEMENTAL PROFILE OF MINING SITE IN ONDO AND EKITI STATE, SOUTHWESTERN, NIGERIA

Abstract
The main objective of this research is to identify the elemental profile of soil sample obtained at gypsum and bitumen mining site. The main elemental compositions were determined using Proton Induced X-Ray Emission Techniques. The results indicated that Sodium, Magnessium, Aluminium, Silica, Phosporus, Chloride, Potassium, Calcium, Iron and Titanium are predominantly present in a significant concentration in all the soil samples investigated. The high concentration of Lead, Chromium, Zinc in Gypsum mining site is of great concern while Copper is present in both site.
