Abstract

The confluence of low-cost embedded sensing (and pervasive Internet access in later modification) and algorithms for machine perception has the potential to revolutionize healthcare with simple styling. Connectivity for devices such as heart monitors, pulse per minute, blood pressure using easily available components provides a method for valuable continuous monitoring data. Then by choosing proper formatting, we can insert these individual parts in a single device being used as indicator for unfolding medical issues in a healthcare setting. We present a prototype service implementation using a widely available open source hardware reference, which is modern style statement for intelligent medical monitoring targeted for home-care and rural area health-care environments. This system fits within a larger distributed framework for medical monitoring.
