A MACRO PERSPECTIVE OF EMBEDDED TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

Embedded technology has been around for a long time and its use gradually expanded into the PC market two decades back.  At the same time, we saw applications of embedded technology in other areas such as watches, VCRs, music systems and myriads of gadgets popularly referred with the prefix ‘computerized’.  While the PC market evolved over the last 20 years, the market for other gadgets was already there with embedded technology providing more sophistication and precision cost effectively.  New inventions in communications technology and adoption of Internet expanded further, the use of embedded systems into devices like mobile phones, electronic home appliances, and Internet appliances.
