NEW STRANGE FINGER AND HAND POSTURE OF BUDDHA IMAGES: CASES FROM THAILAND AND RELATED EXPLANATION

Abstract

In art and architecture, the religious image is the important group of sculpture. Classically, there is a specific pattern of religious image. In Buddhism, the specific pattern of Buddha image has been used for several centuries. In Thailand, the specific patterns of Buddha images are followed by general Buddhist pagodas. However, there are some new emerging new strange Buddha images with atypical posture. In this article, the authors present and discuss case of new strange finger and hand posture of Buddha images seen in Thailand with corresponding explanation.
